FCW PERSPECTIVE
I feel like I have begun to live in two worlds. When I read reports coming out of what I call 'Real Moneyland', I see the world headed toward imminent disaster. But when I walk out the door I see folks going about their everyday lives as they always have --- doing yard sales, having track meets, studying for finals, and all that makes up what we think of as 'normal life' --- it feels like stepping into an alternate universe. How many times in history has 'normal life' been capsized into a new and stark reality? How about life for the Russians after their 1917 revolution, for Americans and the world in the Great Depression, for the Germans after the rise of the Nazis, for the Cambodians at the takeover by the Khmer Rouge, plus many other historical examples? And all of these examples were in just one century. Without historical perspective, it is so easy to assume that what we have come to know will always be. We do need to go on about our daily lives, but I'm thankful for the scouts on the hill who are seeing the big picture. If 'normal' is going to change, I'd like as much advance notice as possible.

A MASTERFUL SUMMARY OF THE FINANCIAL CRISIS
Here is an amazingly concise overview of the global financial crisis by Paul Craig Roberts, former Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Treasury in the Reagan Administration, who has begun to speak out boldly about our financial peril. He's very clear, but getting the full impact of what he says may require a little background. If it inspires you to 'dig in', you'll find a good starting place at FinancialCrisisWatch.info.
