ECONOMIC COLLAPSE PICKING UP SPEED
It has been only a year and a half since I first went down the rabbit hole trying to understand our country's financial situation. At that time the prognostications and warnings were intense but were still fairly abstract and focused on the distant horizon. I have been stunned how many of those specific predictions have begun to come true, and how the pace is picking up. Possible abandonment of the dollar by world nations was 'whispered' a year ago, and now is openly called for by Chinese and Russian economic authorities. Manipulation of the markets was considered 'conspiracy theory' territory a year ago. Massive manipulation has now been exposed in the press and pubicly admitted by significant financial institutions. Government confiscation of bank deposits seemed like a distant anomaly in Cyprus whereas it turned out to be a 'trial run'. Rumors of bank 'bail-ins' are now rampant and veiled strategies are increasingly being 'suggested' in mainstream financial news reports. A massive awakening of the American people is taking place, but not fast enough. Jim Willie has made the unnerving statement that we will exit 2014 in a much different state than we entered it. John Williams of 'ShadowStats.com' fame warned last year that we would see the beginning of hyperinflation in 2014, a stunningly bold prediction for him. We are now seeing consistent reports of accelerating energy and food prices. This blog and website are intended to join in the effort to help spread awareness and understanding of our economic crisis to the average citizen. It increasingly feels like the time is short and the issue is urgent, yet so many are completely clueless about what is really happening. If you haven't yet, please go to FinancialCrisisWatch.INFO, and read through the 'Dig Deeper' section. That will bring you up to speed fast and help a lot of things fall into place for you. You can help the effort by spreading word of this blog and the website to those you know.
After scouring the known universe for sources helpful in understanding our global economic crisis, I discovered the Mile-Franklin newsletter which is emailed free of charge. These guys consistently put out economic perspectives that really help put the pieces together, and they do it in (mostly) understandable language for those who are not financial pros. If you read nothing but Bill Holter and Andy Hoffman, you would stay abreast of the vast majority of significant developments. This article by Bill is a great example of how they see and summarize the big picture so well. Click on the title to link to his blog.
